My recent pics wont show up in preview??

ok so whenever i try to import photos from my iphone to my mac, when i hit import from___ on preview. it shows my pictures from my camera roll but only up to a couple weeks ago when it asks what you want to import. my pics from today and the past couple weeks wont show up and i cant import them! I have no idea whats going on and it has always worked in the past but now it wont work even after ive synced it. helppp:(
