iPod touch 5th gen screen acting weird?

I recently got an iPod touch 5th gen for Christmas, and I have been super careful and done nothing to the screen. I put on a screen protector, then I took it off because it would tap randomly and in other places and move when I keep my finger still. When I took it off, it still kept happening. After a while it went away, then came back after 2 days and repeated all the time. I ordered it from The Source so is it because it was shipped? Did the screen saver damage the screen? Or is my iPod defective? Should I get it checked? Fixed? Should I use my 1 year warranty?

Have you started with the basics? Reset, press and hold the power and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears, about 15 seconds, then release both buttons. If that does not work go into Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. If still, no joy, backup anything that can be wiped from your iPod to your computer, i.e. music, photos, video, contacts, etc. Then connected to your computer via the cable into iTunes, click on your iPod tab and Restore to backup, as a last resort, Restore to New. If problem continues contact Apple Store or the Apple Genius Bar and have your iPod evaluated. Hope this helps, Good luck.
