I just updated Itunes on my Windows 7 desktop and now it won't open at all. Error message says Program cannot start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Reinstall the program. I don"t want to lose all of my music. What do I do? Will Apple let me know how to fix?? Very frustrating.
I also experienced the same problem tonight. I attempted to correct the problem by using a restore point, but for some reason, my system showed no restore points prior to tonight's events. I tried mspanner's solution of uninstalling all Apple programs, rebooting the computer, and reinstalling iTunes. That works for me!
Thanks for the suggestion, mspanner. I appreciate it.
Yes, everything is saved. The order in which things are removed may make a slight difference. (It did for me with an error on reboot until I'd reinstalled.) Try the following proceedure:
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or by right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
