After more than a week of boohooing I know have Itunes up and running with my fingers crossed. The problem was when uninstalling all itune components I was never able to find step #5 which is the removal of apple application support. This is because my OS is in Spanish (Castellano) and this program appeared as Compatibilidad con aplicaciones de apple. By chance I saw it in my laptap (Windows 8) and verified with apple that it was indeed the same program. This is curious because all the other programs which formed a part of Itunes 11.1.4 were in Apple English. Thanks so all of you that took the time to help and as for Apple I say shame on you.

After removing all Apple products from my PC as detailed in the instructions I've found the last step was to do what's noted on Note 3.

I installed unlocker and renamed the Apple Common files which were locked to Apple1. I then rebooted and was able to install iTunes with no errors.

I must say that for Apple to release this upgrade with so many issues is disappointing to me. I feel what I had to do to get it working was beyond the average users abilities.

turintest2 if Apple does not pay you anything, they darn well should.

While your posts did not solve my problem I appreciate your help, and I applaud the help you gave others.

I have reverted to an older Itunes after multi attempts.

I waited a fix by Apple to latest version... none came.

My experience with "Help" at Apple was awful.

This is definitely going to affect any future purchases I make.

They do not seem to give a ****.

    Nor shall I.

Uninstalling in specified order, rebooting and reinstalling under admin, just gives the same error.

    Any other ideas?

See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates if you haven't already done so.

After uninstalling iTunes and the related components it is useful to physically delete any files that may remain in the specified locations before attempting to reinstall.

If that still doesn't work you could try downloading 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and unpack the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe file into its components (put them in the root of C:\)  then try installing them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe or iCloud.msi). AMDS might not install right now, but you may get a more useful error message as to why not, and you might be able to run iTunes even if you can't update your devices at this stage.

Make sure you download a fresh copy of the installer as it was updated some time after the initial release.

I had the same problem. iTunes will not install until you remove the Windows/Apple common files as detailed in Note 3. Once you remove or rename the Apple common files iTunes will install normally. Note 3 tells you to install Unlocker which gives you the ability to rename or delete the common files.

I am unable to successfully "fix" I tunes. I wish I could charge apple $50-$100 for my wasted time. As I run Apple TV etc, iTunes was an integral part of all that functioning, now non functioning, I am not a tech head and am not confident "repairing" my PC. I am very angry about this issue, and can do nothing. Thanks for the bad days apple, like life isn't hard enough.

Hi, start again working through the second box in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. If/when you get stuck post back with where you've got up to and what error message you're getting. Hopefully I will be able to suggest a workaround.

Does the new update to 11.1.5 download and install correctly? I'm afraid to try it after last months ordeal.

It should be fine, but there is only one way to find out for sure. No errors for me.

It's a sublime **** being an apple software user on a PC, mostly I love iTunes, but man, that last update really scared the bejesus out of me.
