Videos coming out to 1:00:00:10 long, only have five pictures

So i needed to make a video that followed the 1:1 ratio for Instagram. I am using FCPX but I do not own Motions which is what I see is the solution for everyone when trying to change the aspect ratio. So I found another video where they made the clip into a compound clip by "opening in timline" So I did that. but my video consist of five pictures. So I open the first by "opening in timeline" and I just add the remaining four pictures. When I export the video ends up being 1:00:00:10 long! So I go back into FCP and I notice in the event library that the start time of all the pictures are at 1:00:00:00 and their end time 1:00:00:10. But in timeline I have them starting at 00:00 and the they're individually only about 3 sec. long. When i look at the exported movie (which took a while to render) the first fifteen seconds are the pictures that I intended to have in there BUT the remaing 59:45 is completely black. I know that sometimes theres empty storyline left at the end and if not deleted will make the end of the video black but I deleted everything I could see. The storyline wont even scroll past 30seconds. At the bottom of the screen it reads "01:00:00:10 total - 975x975 l 60 fps STEREO"
