What is the Passcode for Restrictions since the iOS 7 update?

I did not have a passcode on Restrictions before this update. And my passcode for unlocking the iPad is still the same and works fine. I've tried using this passcode on Restrictions and it does not work. I've tried 0000. I've tried every combination I could think of that might be the basic one that the system might have put in there. I don't want to have to wipe my iPad and have to restore everything if I can help it. Since the update put the code on it, I was hoping that Apple can chime in here and tell us what code they put on it. This is an iPad 2.

Also Location Services is OFF and gray out since the update. How do I get access to it to turn it back on? (that is how I found out that Apple put on a restriction passcode...trying to get location services turned on so that "Find My iPad" will work again.

Thank you,

Cindy

There is no default restrictions passcode. If a passcode was set on your iPad when you updated it, unfortunately it was a fluke with a corruption on the download. That should not happen. Also, Apple doesn't respond to your questions here. There are other ways on contacting Apple, and this is just a user to user support forum.

There is no way to get around the passcode other than to restore as new, except to restore from a backup that does not contain the passcode. In theory, if the passcode wasn't on your iPad before you updated, and you backed up before you updated, you should be able to restore from that backup to remove the passcode.

You should always do a backup prior to an iOS update, and frequently thereafter.

The only option is to wipe the device clean and restore it to factory settings.

Follow the instructions in iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 to restore the device to factory settings.

Once you have setup the device as a new one, you can then sync it back with your iTunes account and all your music, apps, contacts and any other content sync'ed with iTunes will be loaded on the device. Any content that is stored only on the device and not sync'ed with iTunes, like app logins or data, will be lost during this process. Be forewarned that this is a long process and can take a couple of hours or more to complete. This can be painful, but it is necessarily so to prevent users from working around the security settings. After the restore is complete, you can setup a new Restrictions passcode. Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.

"Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.".......

That's the sad part...I didn't put the Restriction Passcode on there...it showed up after I finally gave in and updated the OS. I've found some other posts elsewhere saying the exact same thing. The only Passcode I had in it was the screen lock and it still works fine. So if I had put it there, I would know what it was and would not be having this problem 😟
