Gmail app issues on iPad 2

Hello All,

I have been using the stand-alone Gmail app on my iPad 2 for several months without any issues until recently. When I begin composing a new email, about 10 to 20 seconds into typing, an "X" appears over the horizontal lines (pull down folder list) at the top left of the screen. It essentially locks up and requires me to either save as a draft or discard the email. I have reinstalled the app a few times, but it doesn't help. Any ideas what is causing this and how to fix it? It does not happen on my iPhone using the same account.

Thanks much for any help in advance!

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.

If that doesn't work, you may need to seek assistance from the app vendor.

For what it is worth, I tried the app some time back (a year or two?) and found it to be rather unreliable.
