Safari 6.1.1 stuttering while playing Flash

Does anyone know why has Safari started to stutter while playing Flash video? No matter the size of the content provider (in my case Lynda), it stops for a fraction of a second every 3 seconds. It is QUITE annoying! And, I'm sure it is Safari, I've played those videos an hour before I updated to Safari 6.1.1 and now it is Flash mayhem! I'm tempted to recover (the whole system, thank you very much, Apple) from Time Machine so I do away with this MAJOR annoyance! Any suggestions? 😢

Dominic, thank you for a boiler-plate instructions, I did many, if not all, of those before posting.

However, the story deepens, it sems that the culprit is one of the system updates, since this happened to me on a different machine, too. At least, culprit would be the part of one of the updates that may have written to/changed permissions of the ScriptingAdditions folder. Or, the sandbox settings may have been corrupted, who knows, I don't.

Here's the detailed report that was being generated in Console log ***repetitively***:

OK so this is a long story but I will try to shorten it up:

  1. I am running a MacPro with System 10.5.7. October 22, 2013 Apple releases Safari 6.1 update ( I had 6.0.5) up until this point I had always just downloaded software updates when they were released and kept my system up to date.
  2. Sometime that week ( I had updates set to weekly) I updated to Safari 6.1 and it broke a program I use called PasswordBox.
  3. I attempted to downgrade back to Safari 6.0.5. This turned into a cluster. But I managed to get downgraded to Safari 6.0.2. (This was a long and sordid tale itself and I have a lot anger for Apple for making it so difficult to downgrade).
  4. Since November of last year I have been having the problem of stuttering video with Safari whether it is Flash or HTML5. Chrome and Firefox have no problem with either Flash or HTML5 players.
  5. I finally today decided to use my TimeMachine BU to return to a time before October 22nd.
  6. So far, even though I had to redo my personal settings, things are working fine. Safari 6.0.5 starts up and does everything faster and plays video just fine.
  7. I have an iMac at work I may have to do this to just to get back to Safari 6.0.5.

Anyway, the tl;dr version is: Reinstall your system. Safari 6.1 is the culprit. Maybe it works great with Mavericks or ML but with Lion it just plain doesn't work right.

Happy Day! 😀
