This morning my I-Pad 4th generation started dinging periodically. I have no messages yet it continues to ding like about 2 or 3 times an hour. I did not change any settings. Bought it brand new from Apple 3 months ago, and this just started happening today. Any replies back how to stop this annoyance will be greatly appreciated. I only want it to ding when I get a message. Thanks.

I have same issue and have done what was suggested BUT most of my notifications that say sounds do not even show me what sound is associated with the notification. I cannot track down the soft little "ding" - it's NOT the DING sound listed under sounds. Can never find what it's alerting me to.

Go to the Settings App > Notification Center and set notifications for any of your apps to suit your needs.
