Do you use Firefox? I've read that it has problems downloading iTunes. Another browser like Google Chrome might work better.

I use Internet explorer to download itunes.. but it always say " i have downloaded itunes already" and does not allow me to download itune now.
tt2,
thks so much. I installed Chrome just now and was successful to download Itune now... u saved my life, Hero!!! 😁
Thank you! It totally worked. 😍
How about instead of everyone spending hours uninstalling, reinstalling, etc, Apple starts to supply downloads which WORK?
Thanks for your help. 🙂 I had also the problem with the missed MSVCR80.dll-file after updating iTunes. Your steps were successfull. 🙂
Worked perfect...thank you so much!
Worked so fa in that iTunes works nowr. Not sure if I should click to resync music. Asks me if I want to remove all the music off of my phone to resync. Please advise? If I don't, will it sync future purchases, etc.?

Did you end up needing to reimport your media? The erase and sync prompt is normally a sign that you are using a different library from the one the device last synced with. See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash for tips on restoring the library, or backing up the device so nothing is lost when switching libraries.

All of the songs that were on my phone are still there, but all of the sync boxes are unchecked in iTunes for songs, photos, etc. I will try your suggested fix as we did recently have an issue with my husband using one of my old iphones and it recognized my iTunes account instead of his. Or, do you suggest just restoring my iPhone from my last backup, which was recent?
iPhones like to be connected to one library and one library only. If you switch libraries you will get the erase and sync prompts, even if both libraries actually contain the same media. I obviously can't tell from here exactly what has happened, but as long as you have the media in your library that you want on the device then a backup-restore cycle of it should sort things out.
Sadly I've just checked my Previous iTunes Libraries folder and it seems this is one of the occasions that the database hasn't had an automatic backup taken during the upgrade. If you're like me the last backup in there goes back to September.

I likewise wasn't able to completely remove mobile support services. The re-download and re-install went fine though, after following your remove-sequence instructions.
After reboot, it took so long I thought it had failed the reinstall because that uninstall of mobile services was incomplete, but while I was reading the rest of this thread for clues, the FINISH box popped up and launched iTunes -- PRESTO, ALL MY STUFF IS THERE.
I'm on a Win7 machine using Firefox 26.0 (which didn't balk at re-downloads). I believe this problem affects many of the auto-updates I've gotten since Microsoft sent a group of updates that killed my sound and camera. Fixes for the sound didn't work, so I did a roll-back to pre-update. This was in Dec 2013. Since then I've had these aborted-update-install problems with Adobe and other programs.
The problem with rolling back the system more than a few days is that while fixing one issue you may introduce others. Short of going though every piece of software that you might have updated in the last two months and running a similar uninstall/reinstall process you may be better off reverting to the most recent restore point made before you rolled the system back.

Excellent advice - don't roll-back very much. At the time the update from Microsoft trashed my sound, I rolled back to that very morning's boot, only a couple of hours and no work had been done. I got the sound working for my go-to-meeting conference. Now iTunes works and syncs.
