I agree, so far no luck with the "help" from Apple. Will now try to follow the steps I found on this forum (am a bit scared to do so, so will try another reset of the system first) but unfortunately my sunday has been ruined by this "lovely" update from Apple. I do not understand why they do not test the updates properly for windows before they send them into the world

I did the uninstall, reinstall, etc with no luck.  I finally went back to a restore point from last week.  Everything is now working.  I'll give it awhile before trying the update again.  Maybe they will actually fix the problem eventually.

Thank you so much! The problem was fixed quickly although I had to downlaod Microsoft Fix It from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 to unistall Apple Support Update.

I followed the steps and was able to successfully reinstall iTunes and get it to run.  But when I try to access the iTunes Store from within the application, I get the following error:

"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. An error occurred (-3213).  Make sure your network connection is active and try again."

My internet connect is active and I rebooted my PC, just to make sure, and I get the same error.  Any suggestions?

    Thanks tt2 for your post.

After spending a couple of hours on my own, this quickly fixed the problem.

Hopefully Apple will take note and debug before releasing future "updates"!

thank you tt2; this fixed the problem for me as well.

however, this must have been a bad install script from Apple, which corrupted iTunes. i should imagine that many thousands who clicked the Update button are now wondering how to fix their corrupted application. has Apple posted anything on this?

    anyway, thanks again!

    Thanks turingtest2! Legend!

Fixed ! so winning, I had no issue with libraries going missing etc, these just came back as if there was no issue (for those that were afraid of this). It did reset my prefered import format back to acc for those that use mp3 will have to change back, no biggie.

Poor form Apple, poor form, would recomend to anyone going through this issue that when you get to the reinstall part of this to uncheck the "automatically update software" box... this is going to create some trust issues...

    I have an additional queston/concern.

The last time I had to do an iTunes reinstall it told me my library was "attached" to another computer/iPod Classic. I ended up having to make a copy of my iPod hard drive and save it on my computer hard drive, then accept the option to attach the "new" computer/"new" iPod together (even though these are the exact same ones I've had for ages). Not just once but 3 times (including the ever popular 'You must Authorized this computer' and the 'You already have all authorizations used' type messages) and then still in the process of going onto the save file and having to rename every single song back from the 4 character code into the original info and add them all back onto my iPod.

Will this delete and reinstall cause me to have to go through this incredible aggravation/anger inducing, time consuming, nit-pickity trouble all over again?

    THANK YOU.

I was able to get iTunes back up and running after deleting all the other Apple software as you suggestd. This makes me think really hard about wanting to download the next Update from Apple.

Isn't updates supposed to make things Better?

Many thanks for the help posted here.

It's pretty sickening to witness what a poor piece of software iTunes is becoming.
