iTunes Error 7 (Windows Error 127)

I just installed the new update for iTunes last night, and after it finished downloading, I was unable to access iTunes at all. It popped up with error 7 windows error 127 and said that the entry point could not be found in iTunes. I am unable to open iTunes at all now. Has anyone else encountered this problem with the new update? I can't figure out what to do from here...

The exact same thing happened to me. I read that installing the correct version of

Microsoft's .NET Framework that are applicable to your OS would help but that did not help. It is so frustrating to install something that is supposed to be an improvement that instead makes iTunes unusable.

Hi Keith,

See the section Tunes launch errors caused by iAdCore.dll should be an effective solution but the more thorough steps in the second box of the guide will also work. It shouldn't be too hard if you're not rushed and you sit down with a good cup of tea or mug of coffee. Or you can save the links until you call on your favourite IT helper.

Take care. 🙂

Yes, most people are able to get iTunes updated following the advice in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

When you wiped off the old version of the iTunes application did you also delete the installation folders as named in the second box of the user tip? If not the roll back is likely to be unsuccessful. You may also need to roll back the library database too. Other tips include temporarily disabling AV software, using a fresh administrator account for the install, or the segment on breaking down the installer into separate components and adding them one at a time.

Quite why things go wrong is unclear, and the causes and effects seem to vary quite a bit, but the overall recovery process should work. That said I would wait until you have repaired your system before trying to update any other computers in the household.

What is the exact text of the error message that you get now? Several have been mentioned in the context of this thread.

I have tried the Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates provided. I've also tried some other advice found online. Nothing is working. Why has this issue not been resolved? I sure could use a resolution. What do we do if there is no iPad or we don't use iPhones, etc.

This is really bad as I need this access for my class play lists.

Help!! 😟

Just putting this out on the web for those that encounter it, not necessarily the original poster as I'm sure solved by now. I have a new Dell running Windows 8.1 and iTunes update 12.1 got error 193 and would not install, I tried numerous methods listed here. The folder some said to delete did not exist. uninstalling and reinstalling did not work. Rebooting to an earlier restore point did not work. I cannot say what will work for others, but here is what DID work for ME: Do not browse to the Apple site and download iTunes in Google Chrome, instead use Microsoft Explorer. When I went that route a different pop up box appeared asking if i want to repair or uninstall. (Repair did not work), selecting uninstall Then downloading the 64bit version (which I need) fully and successfully installed- not just saying it did, but actually working. I opened it up and re-synced to my iPhone 4s. Viola! (Btw, the day prior when purchasing an album over 3G not wifi all my stored music mysteriously disappeared, which ironically is what caused me to update iTunes to 12.1 but maybe this is unrelated, but both problems solved now. once iTunes was running again, everything was still in the cloud not lost just downloading to phone.) Hope this helps.
