Thank you Robertk.... I found your comment direct and helpful. Another bit (excuse the pun) of knowledge added to this aging brain.
And, yes, my iMac is aging too: 3 gig memory and 2.4 GHz duo core. It was bought in 2008 and I've updated/upgraded with all offered as I went along. Some of the programs i.e. garageband, handbreak, guitarguro, etc I never use. And some programs like Adobe and Skype have multiple versions listed under applications. (This is where I got the idea that I needed to clean up my hard drive but feared loosing the integrity of other programs.) So many questions like if I don't use Safari (prefer FireFox), do I still need "Mail"?
I'd like to upgrade to iLife to bring iPhoto, etc up to date but what gets affected? where do I go for answers? Do I need to carry my Mac to an Apple Store and have them look it over?
So afraid in my naivity of being sold more than I need/want. I'm happy with my hardware and don't see my life taking on new challenges (I'm almost 70). The computer world that I once embraced from a hands on use point of view is now passing me by and there is no technical director to tell me what I need, install and to work out the bugs. I'm really not interested in learning how to either. Hey there, Mr. Cook, can we get back to "user friendly"? Any suggestions?
