iCal reminder changes due date to day before

When I create a new reminder in iCal on my iMac, as soon as I enter the date it changes to the day before. For example, if I put in 1/24/2014, it immediately changes to 1/23/2014.

I've been having this issues for months and none of the troubleshooting has ever helped me. Thank you for the links, Judy, but I'm still having the same problem. For example, I created a reminder last week and set it for Wednesday. I just changed the due date for today and it skipped to yesterday. So I need to fake it out and set it to 02/11 in order for it to set to 02/10.
