iPhone 4s with an unresponsive touchscreen- any suggestions?

I've done everything I can think of. Reset, restart, restore to new, restore to back up, and letting the battery die. Nothing works. My screen still lights up and I have service. I can use basic functions via voice control. I made an appointment at the nearest Apple store but it's a two hour drive and I don't have Apple Care. Is there anything I'm not thinking of that y'all suggest?
