You may notice a difference in available space statistics between Disk Utility, Finder, and Get Info inspectors. This is expected and can be safely ignored. The Finder displays the available space on the disk without accounting for the local snapshots, because local snapshots will surrender their disk space if needed.

get this programs called Grand perspective (http://grandperspectiv.sourceforge.net/). open it and have it scan your Macintosh HD folder (dont scan anything else) and find large, unused "blocks". when you have them click 'reveal' and you can delete them from there. Davis emptying the trash doesnt remove the program/file completely, it just deletes the main folder leaving everything else to be scattered about. and if you want to read the ammount of space stored go to that little apple in top left corner and click 'about this mac-more info-disc space' to see how mutch you have left. I hope this helps, although your best bet would be to buy anything but a Mac and RIGHTCLICK on the program/file and click uninstall which removes them for good...anything else buy a PC.. hope this helped 😀
