imac g3 mac os x 10.2 upgrade disk error boot

hi,

i have a 1999 333mz imac g3 whaen i try to boot of a retail 10.2 upgrade disk i get werd lines

this is the disk

got the apple logo

got the sping weal

but then this hapens the sping weal is stuck sping and i can press the cd drive button and it will eject

You are lucky that's all that happened. Your imac probably needs a firmware update applied while booted into 9:

I would also have a technician make sure the PRAM battery is under 4 years old.
