Q: Settings iPhone 4s

I recently lost the multi-tasking menu in settings but a small app icon showed up on my home screen. How can I get rid of it?  It's annoying!

The multi-tasking menu in settings? And what app icon are you referring to on the home screen. Can you describe it?

Hi it looks like a black square with a pure white circle in it and around the white circle are grey circles. When you touch it it opens and it shows you a star for favourites a circle with a square for home then a circle for Siri then a phone shaped icon for device and if you press the device you get the multi-tasking options. I don't know how it got there unless there wad an option to make it a button an I did that. I hate it. It's in the way all the time. You can move it around tho. Urgh frustrating

That is the Assistive touch button. Go into Settings>General>Accessibility>Assistive Touch>OFF. Also, check Accessibility Shortcut and set it to OFF.

I'm still not quite sure what you are asking about regarding the multi-tasking menu in Settings.

Thanks sooo much. I would never have figured that out. When I went there it was turned off. So I turned it on and off again and it disappeared. Thanks so much. Something is small but so annoying. Take care and stay connected. You are the first person that has actually been helpful in a lot of places I have search for help for other stuff.   Cheers and be happy!

You're welcome. This is an adaptive way to use the home button normally, some use it to save from pushing the home button on their phone too many times, or if their home button starts to work intermittently, it solves their problem. I'm glad you got the answer to your question.
