You'd be better off posting on the forums for Joomla or the Google Maps code snippet you're using.
It's certainly not an iPad problem as other websites showing similar Google maps display perfectly on iPad.
Here's one example: http://www.cheltenhamandgloucesterunitarians.org.uk/contact-us/how-to-find-us/
It's obviously a problem with the particular map code you're using.
Thanks I will try my code was provided by google and is as follows:-
<p><br /><small><a style="color: #0000ff; text-align: left;" href="https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=embed&hl=en&geocode=&q=stmarks+church+ epsom&aq=&sll=47.73855,12.508828&sspn=47.157037,85.957031&ie=UTF8&hq=stmarks+chu rch&hnear=Epsom,+Surrey,+United+Kingdom&t=m&fll=51.308779,-0.231485&fspn=0.04270 9,0.083942&st=105200986577291262422&rq=1&ev=zi&split=1&z=12&iwloc=A">View Larger Map</a></small>
Yeah, it seems to be something to do with that code snippet. The code used on that example site is very different.
Google Maps on mobile devices uses different code as it shows maps optimised for mobile devices.
Have a look for a Google Maps plugin for Joomla which caters for embedding of both mobile and desktop maps, rather than using the Google snippet which is geared towards desktop viewing.
