i have a new iPhone and a new macbook the safari window has websites like apple disney espy yahoo etc in the bar below where u enter an address ....how do i get rid of permanently these entires I've tried everything

Im fairly new to Safari browsers ......This browser has sites sch as Apple Disney ESPN etc listed at the top of the screen below the bar where you enter an address or a search in. In addition to these addresses there are several address of just general sites that I have viewed on other devices that I know longer want to appear ......How to i delete them permanently from the bar ??? I have tried everything

Welcome to the Apple Community Chief.


Is this the area you are referring to (red box)


They are bookmarks and these particular ones are located in your favourites bar. You can open your bookmarks using the button the red arrow points to, you can then ctrl-click on a bookmark to bring up the contextual menu you see in the screenshot, you can delete the bookmark from there.
