Feb 1, 2014 7:21 AM in response to Quad_by turingtest2,For some people the recovery works even if they can't remove that component. They just move on to the next step. Others have managed to repair it before removing. If you are looking at my original advice in this thread switch to the user tip linked to above which contains more information.

Oh, and for those who keep asking what he (she?) means by 'press on' when the Apple Mobile Device thingy won't uninstall? It's a simple phrase meaning 'keep on going' or 'move on to the next step'...
Not nearly as helpful as your solution to the **** MSVC80 error, but maybe it will help someone a little bit press on ya'll!!

Suggestions? SHould I just go a head an uninstall that too and try reinstalling iTunes? I did try to reinstall iTunes but got another error saying that "Apple mobile device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient priveleges to start system services". What does this mean?? I've never had any of these issues before. HELP!!!
