Unfortunately it did not work for me. This frustrating and Aggravating. I wish apple would just release a fixed update.
Have you tried the slightly more detailed process outlined in HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8? It may help to use safe mode if you find yourself unable to remove any of the folders recommended in the instructions.

Jan 27, 2014 3:52 PM in response to turingtest2by Earl Purple,Thank you. I would really like to uninstall all these unwanted apps. If I don't have to reinstall any of them that would be great.
I don't want a mobile device service, so I couldn't give a f**k if it doesn't start. I just want to be able to browse the iTunes store. I don't even want to buy anything from it, but finding new releases anywhere is rather **** and iTunes isn't much better but at least I get to see some of what is out.
Why the f**k are you still on Visual Studio 2005 anyway?
Oh, and why should I install as administrator? What do you want to do that requires administrative priveleges. I shudder to think .Probably insist all your services run with Windows when I start my computer just because once a week for an hour or so I might want to use iTunes to browse your store which should be web-based in the first place.

Jan 27, 2014 6:24 PM in response to turingtest2by ApplCamel,For me, the install got a C or C++ Runtime library. I discovered, eventually, that the previous version of the Apple Mobile App was not uninstalled so I had both in the Control Panel Programs. Once I uninstalled iTunes, both versions of the Mobile program and rebooted and reran the Apple Software Update, all was well. Your entry confirms where the problem is. Thanks.

Jan 27, 2014 6:33 PM in response to RealChewbaccaby MSpiker,I have been fighting this for days!!!!! Very frustrating. I have unistalled and re-installed several times to no avail. I get error 7 windows error 126 or the next time i get error 7 windows error 1114 and the friggin library error. I keep getting a message of no itunes helper found. I can't even figure how to get that back. Now the new message is Apple device manager can't install due to no privilleges. I have saved the download to my desktop right clicked ran as administrator and still nothing. I am the admin. I have disable firewalls. I have done the msconfig and still no luck. ANY SUGGESTIONS? i am running vista.(yeah I know). I have downloaded this new version onto my laptop and it works fine, just not on my desktop , which is where my complete library and purches are. HELP.

Jan 27, 2014 6:41 PM in response to MSpikerby ApplCamel,Go to page 1 of this thread where you will see from Turingtest2:
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
- iTunes
- Apple Software Update
- Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
- Bonjour
- Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
I found that I only had to remove all versions of Apple Mobile Device Support (I had two) and iTunes. I left Apple Software Update so I could run it after rebooting. I used it to reinstall iTunes. That worked for me.

Jan 28, 2014 5:03 PM in response to turingtest2by srscmayor,I encountered the same issues as everyone else with the missing MSVCR80.dll after doing the update for iTunes. I just want to thank turingtest2 for your detailed reply on Jan 24,. I was so worried I would lose all my playlists but thankfully after following your advice to the letter it seems to be working fine now.
Thank you a thousand fold!!!my son thinks because I'm 60 I don't know how to do these things but I can still read & it may take me a little longer to figure things out but because of people like you out there I can fix things without his help.
Thank you,
Srscmayor

Jan 28, 2014 6:42 PM in response to turingtest2by David Doherty,Will doing the procedure you suggest leave my iPhone sync settings alone too? I remember I did something with iTunes (I think) before and I had to re-setup my whole iPhone process.
Thanks,
