Mailbox App Access Revoked

I've been using Mailbox app from Dropbox for a few weeks without any problems when suddenly today I got a message saying Access Revoked.

I tried to add my icloud account back to the app but keep getting a message saying 'Failed to Authorize. The information you entered was rejected by your email provder'.

The native Mail app works fine and I can login to icloud on the web.

I thought maybe Apple had detected suspicious activity on my account and blocked 3rd party apps. I reset my Apple password, deleted the app and reinstalled it but have the same problem.

I'm on ios 7.0.4 on iphone 5S and iPad retina.

Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem?

Thanks

Hello.

I have the same problem. I have been using the Mailbox app (on my iPhone 5) for quite some time without problems. The same day as you I had the message that authorization failed within the Mailbox app.

I still could receive mails via the Mail application on my MacBook Air, but when I logged in to icloud.com I got asked to change my password (no real information why). I thought that my account maybe had been compromised. So I changed my password. Then I retried the Mailbox app, but it still doesn't let me sign in.

I will also post this question to the guys over at Mailbox. Maybe they should solve this as it really seems to be a problem with the app, and not necessarily with Apple, but the fact that I was asked to change my password was still quite intriguing.

Hopefully somebody can give further insight.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

I download the latest update to mailbox and I'm still not able to add my icloud account.

I tried another random ios email app from the app store and it worked! I can also use the native mail app and icloud web app with the same credentials.

Mailbox support said they'd pass the issue on to their technical team so I guess we have to wait and see.

I even called Apple support to ask if there's anything on their end that could block 3rd party access to icloud accounts and I was told it should all just work. They suggested resetting the network settings on my iphone, which i did, but it didn't fix the problem.

Resetting my icloud password also did not fix it.

I wonder if icloud thinks mailbox is trying unathorised access to icloud accounts and blocks it.

Hi.

I encountered the same problem.

I fixed by deleting the account on the mailbox app and recreating the same account on the app, and I started receving all the previous emails.

But after a few hours I received the same "Authorization revoked" banner on the Mailbox app, and now I can't receive emails anymore on the app.

I also noticed that the app UI all turned grey. Did it happen to you as well?

Thank you.

Francesco

Ps: I use an iPhone 5s 16gb with iOS 7.0.4

I had this problem also. I contacted Mailbox App (Dropbox) and they did not really have an answer.

Try going into you iCloud on the web and then manage your account. I found out that my password for iCloud had expired and had to choose a new password. Changed it and it now works in Mailbox.

It may seem that iCloud will accept your old password but doesn't alert you that the password had expire unless you go into and manage you iCloud account.

Hope that helps.

All

I had the same thing happening to my Mailbox app all of the sudden and then I remembered an email I got from Apple a week or so ago about needing to generate app-specific passwords after a certain date. I clicked on over to https://appleid.apple.com/ and signed in with my credentials ("Manage your Apple ID" button). Navigate to "Password and Security" and select "Generate an app-specific password." Give it a nickname (i.e. Mailbox) and a password should appear on your screen. Go to your device(s) and sign in to the Mailbox app with your email address (i.e. johnny_appleseed@me.com) and the new password and, presto, you're in business.

Hope this helps.
