Slow External Drive Ejecting

The similar problem is described in this topic.

After upgrading to OS X Mavericks, I noticed ejecting external drives (memory cards, flash drives, etc.) became taking too much time. Instead of 1–2 seconds in Mountain Lion, it now takes over 10 seconds to eject a drive in Mavericks. The problem occurs in 10.9.1 on late 2011 MacBook Pro which I upgraded from Mountain Lion.

At the same time, mid 2010 white MacBook, after clean Mavericks installing, ejects drives pretty fast despite older hardware.

Hm... Not Solved. Typical Apple one step forward two steps backwards policy. I'm actually happy with the way my desktop looks like, and I don't want to move any files around just so that my USB stick ejects faster, just as it did for the past ten years.

SOLVED!

The problem only occurs when there’re some large files (about 30GB) on the desktop. The issue will likely be resolved if you move them to another folder (e.g., Documents).

I have the exact same issue. Brand new Macbook Pro mid last year. OSX 10.9.
