Instagram not finding contacts from my address book

So earlier today I started having problems where when I clicked find people to follow

the two options presented were

Facebook

and

Contacts

Neither would find the users and it would say "no users found"

I was able to find a solution for Facebook and took off instagram and Facebook apps to get it working again however Instagram is not showing people I can follow from my contacts. It worked fine last night but I cannot get a solution for this and could not find one online.

Does anyone have any suggestions at all for this?

Does it ask your permission to access contacts first? I just tried on my phone and I had to allow it.

Thank you for asking. Yes, the app does ask permission, and I was allowing it.

I actually couldn't post an update sooner, but it works fine now. I did a complete iPhone shutdown before trying it again. Following the same steps, the app then listed all my contacts in IG. Before the shutdown, I was also getting the "no users found" message. It's okay now. Thank you! 🙂
