I have an Ipod touch 5th gen that will connect to internet only if I`m within reachng distance of the modem. If I move any further away from it I lose internet and it says unable to join the network. Also will not transfer burned cds onto computer. Will only transfer songs if bought off itunes.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?

Does the iOS device see the network?

Any error messages?

Do other devices now connect OK?

Did the iOS device connect before?

Try the following to rule out a software problem: Y may have dones some of there already

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Power off and then back on your router

.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network

- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem with all networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

What exactly happens when you try to sync?

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?

Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?

If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?

Do the songs play in iTunes?

Does any media now sync to the iPod?

Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

It doesn`t sync unless its over internet and when i get internet to work the songs won`t show up on my ipod to download over the cloud on burned songs. When I plug it into my computer it shows its syncing the data but it shows no songs being transfered. I have also tried to manually sync it which did not work also.

My ipod has never been synced to another itunes library or computer.

It use to work and I think it worked after the iso 7 update.

I have not updated itunes yet but the ipod is up to date.

Yes, the songs do play on the computer.

The only media that will transfer to the ipod is when it`s bought off Itunes.

The correct boxes are checked to sync music.

See

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

- I would start with

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

or

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

- New cable and different USB port

- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause
