Canon MF4200 installation?

I'm trying to install a canon MF4200 printer to my iMac which is on version 10.9.1. I seem to have been able to add it to the printer list but when I try and print I get an error message saying 'No destinations have been added to the [destination list]' - how do I fix this so I can use the printer?
