Scared of loosing my phone and I've researched alot about the app and it seems REALLY good but i'm so curious cause i dont understandhow the
app works like how does it track the iphone like does it track the actual phone, the sim or the icloud account

It tracks the phone. The IMEI number is permanently associated to the device. So, when it is connected to the internet, via wi-fi or celluar data, it is 'on the grid' so to speak. And the IMEI number is a unique identifier.
That IMEI number is linked, using the Settings > iCloud - Find My iPhone, to your Apple ID/iCloud account.
When you log into the Find My iPhone app or www.icloud.com, your Apple ID is linked to the IMEI number of the device. So, if the device has an internet connection, then it can be located and displayed.
Finsd my iPhone tracks the iPhone as long as its connected to the internet somehow via Wifi or Cellular data. So it tracks the actual iphone itself. If you use the "Find my iPhone" activation lock, in the case it it's lost or stolen, you can sign into iCloud..com/find and put the device into "lost mode" "Erase" the device which erases the data, such as your information, and "make a sound" which only really helps if you lost it near by. The Activation lock is used when the device is restored and being set up, the person who has it can't set up and use the device unless they have your iCloud user name and password. Is "find my iphone" app connected with my Icloud account or IMEI cause what happens if someone logs me out or factory resets will i still be abe to track my phone
