MicroSoft's latest .net Framework (last of 4.0 and new 4.5) seem to delete MSVCR80.dll. If I delete the iTunes software bundle and reinstall, won't the problem just happen again with 11.1.5?
The dll file was included in .net Framework 3.5, but is gone from later 4.0 and 4.5, so the iTunes installer can't find it, and the installation fails. Is there a simple way to put it back without deleting the entire Apple bundle and resintalling?
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Thanks, tt2, but I had already seen your posts suggesting removing/reinstalling the entire iTunes bundle. My question is whether the problem will just re-occur when 11.1.5 comes out, and whether there's another way to replace MSVCR80 to avoid repetition of the problem with each new iTunes release.
I don't think it will be a problem next time. It seems the current version of iTunes may not even use the dll. There is certainly no copy loaded anywhere within my iTunes or Apple folders. I've no dobut someone is going to be tasked with making sure the next update runs more smoothly.
