Can't send emails from BT internet/yahoo account

I can't send emails from my BT internet / yahoo email account from my iPad. I have deleted the account and added it again several times but it doesn't seem to work. It just says that the password / username is incorrect. Despite resetting the password. I am however receiving emails.

iPad 2, iOS 7.0.4

What options did you use when adding the account to your iPad ? When I added a BT internet account I chose 'Yahoo' on the 'add account' screen, and then just needed to type in my name, email address, password and a description. Is that all that you did when adding the account ? I didn't need to enter/set anything for outgoing emails, I can send emails from it using the Yahoo default settings all.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

My solution was as follows......

log into bt web site with name@btinternet.com and old password - so that you are logged into the web version of email - need to use laptop not iPad

go to your iPad and add new email account by - settings - mail contacts calendars, add account, other, add mail acct, (leave old email acct set up in case you need access to old emails should it not work)

Fill in your old details exactly the same as for your previous bt acct - i.e. name - email address - password - for the last box (description) put simply bt

This creates a new bt account on ipad2 and then when all emails loaded i deleted my old account. (may work on other iPads)

The new account is named btinternet, whereas the old one was my bt username. Once i was sure it was set up, deleted my old bt acct

worked easily after lots of faffing with pop and other accounts. seems quicker to set up new acct but for this to work you must have logged into the remote web version - i had to do this with mac rather than iPad.
