There are no reliable downloadable versions of Mac OS software other than those offered through the Apple store. Those offered are illegal and often include problems that you don't want on your Mac. More often, the download does not work and you can't get you money back. The "seller" has your money, your credit card number, and your e-mail address. At least he's happy!

The highest level of the Mac OS that can run on any G5 is 10.5.8 "Leopard." You can try the usually sites like Amazon for a full retail install disk set. It will be very expensive.

Although a long shot, you can try calling the Apple Store at 1-800-MY-APPLE (in the US) and asking for a system software specialist. Ask if they have Leopard install disks. Last January, there were reports here that people were able to get the older OS versions from Apple by calling, and for much less money that the open market demands.

Someone at apple found some cds/dvds this 1/22! Took two calls.

Restore Tiger 10.4 & Leopard 10.5 DVDs are available from Apple by calling 1(800) 275-2273. Have your serial number ready. Have your credit card ready too. There may be a small fee.
