Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.
See these Apple articles:
Mac OS X Snow Leopard and malware detection
OS X Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
OS X Mountain Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
If you require anti-virus protection I recommend using VirusBarrier Express 1.1.6 or Dr.Web Light both from the App Store. They're both free, and since they're from the App Store, they won't destabilize the system. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.)

Jan 26, 2014 1:42 PM in response to H-aminby thomas_r.,What makes you say it has lots of viruses? If you have scanned it with anti-virus software, what anti-virus software are you using and what did it find, specifically? What was the name of all the malware found? Most likely, it's all Windows malware, probably attached to e-mail messages. It's very common to find such malware on Macs, but that malware cannot hurt you in the slightest.
Note that removing such malware should never be done by the anti-virus software! That can cause problems, depending on where the malware is found, and if it actually happens to be Mac malware, you need to seek out more information before taking action that might leave components still installed. For proper removal, see How to remove infected files.
