iPod touch will no longer sync with my music library on iTunes since restoring to factory settings

I had to restore the ipod when it locked my son out as he'd forgotten the passcode.

I have around 1000 songs in my music library on itunes. Sync all songs is checked, but it saying there are 0 songs.

I'd like to sync all songs to the ipod. Can anyone help please?
