after changing appple id i cant login to app store

I have changed my apple ID because I changed isp and my old email address is no longer valid. When i try to go to the app store i am prompted to login to my old apple id by my iphone. Shouldn't it be prompting me to login to my new apple ID ? It seems that I can't tell the iphone what the new apple id is.
