Q: Can't remember admin password, I've tried many ways to reset it already. HELP

Hi there!

I'm trying to help the moms out with my old laptop which is a Macbook 10.5.6. We no longer know the admin password and have attempted to reset through booting (which did not work, the Command-r brought nothing to the screen) and by re-installing the startup disk ( which never gave the option to open utilities and change the password). So, neither have been successful. I don't know what I'm doing wrong or perhaps what step I'm missing. Please help us out, the woman just wants to update things FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.

Resetting or changing a password:

For Snow Leopard or earlier: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1274

For Lion or later: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6022

If it's running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, insert a Mac OS X install DVD, restart with the Option key held down, click on it, and use the Reset Password utility.

If it's running Mac OS X 10.7 or newer, restart with the Command and R keys held down, open the Terminal, and use the resetpassword command:
