Dowloand 64-Bit Version of iTunes but Installer Says it Isn't 64-Bit and Won't Install

I download the latest, 64-bit version of iTunes. When I try to install it, at the end of the installation process, I get a message saying that I it cannot install because I need the 64-bit version. I just DOWNLOADED the 64-bit version, for Pete's sake.

I have down this four or five times now, and am getting tired of it. What am I doing wrong? I know I am downloading from the proper Web site - it is the Apple, iTunes site.

I should probably withdraw the "mostly" as it seems that is not the case any more. The components inside the installer are:

AppleApplicationSupport.msi

AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi

AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi

Bonjour64.msi

iCloud64.msi

iTunes64.msi

The included iCloud component installs on Vista only, users of Win7 or later should go to DL1455: iCloud Control Panel 3.1 for Windows.

Not having a 32-bit machine I've not paid too much attention to what is inside the package before now, but I'm fairly sure the main iTunes component was 32-bit until recently. Perhaps it came in with iTunes 11.0...

I am running Windows 7 - 64-Bit, of course. This is a new computer, so there is no prior version of iTunes on it.

Have we talked about this before, a couple of years ago, mike?

Doublechecking. By any chance, did you use the PC Mover utility to transfer a 32-bit version of the iTunes program across from your old computer to the new 64-bit system? (That wedges 32-bit versions of iTunes abd related software components on a 64-bit system, and the standard 64-bit installers can't uninstall the previous 32-bit versions of the software on the 64-bit system, producing the error message.)
