How do you block a contact using a MacBook Air? I have this person blocked from the iPhone, however the option is greyed out under the "buddies" tab on my MacBook Air and I am still receiving messages from them on my MacBook Air.

You cannot yet block an iMessage contact on your Mac. Maybe some day ...
About all you could do is turn off iMessage on your Mac.
Why does it say you can in help then? But when I go to Buddies it will not let me scroll down & select block person? Its there is is just not highlighted & I cannot select block person or figure out how to make it become highlighted. I do not understand that. Why is it not highlighted & I cannot choose it when it is staring mw in the face?
You can in fact block a contact on the Macbook Air. I have OS X Yosemite, so I don't know if this may differ for you depending on your OS, but worked for me! See the link below:
