2 questions 1) I updated to maverick but am still not able to get my contacts to sync properly 2) how do i find my @me.com password?

Two questions I am hoping someone can help with:

1) I have a mid 2010 macbook updated with Maverik and an updated Iphone 4s. For some reason even with the updates I can't get my contacts to sync properly between my phone, my contacts on my computer and Icloud. I am not sure what I am doing wrong but I get duplicates of some contacts and others only appear in one place or another. How do I sync them so they are the same? Where is the best place to make updates the contact list on my desktop or on icloud?

2) I have been asked for a password for and @me.com email address a few times. I didn't know I had that email I have an @icloud email that works fine but when I use my apple/itunes/icloud password it tells me it isn't correct. Everytime i have looked up how to or tried to change the password it takes me to change my apple id. What am i doing wrong or should i just ignore the email address since no one else has it?
