Hardware vs Software problems upgrading

Hi.

Can anyone give me a clue of idea?

My "problem" is:

I have a

iMac 27"

Sales Number(s): MC814LL/A

Processor: 3.1GHz Core i5 (Quad-core 2400)

Serial #: DG******HJQ

Model #: A1312

witch I buy 15.08.2011

23 months later the iMac started slowdown dramaticly, repair concluded it was failure with Hard-disk, logicboard, videoboard and RAM, 4 components that had a failure.

They changed everyting.

I got the iMac back, without software installed, but It was not possible to install, delivered iMac back, got it back and installed original software form the DVD OS 10.6.6 no problem...

I updated to OS 10.8.4 the 24. august 2012 (a year before the failure showed up), but now, after service changed all this 4 components I can't update to OS 10.8.4.

I have formated and installed original softwere and update several times before the repair, but now it is impossible. Service can help update, but they can not guaranti that it will solve the problem for futured reformate and update again.

Can anyone, answer me or give me a idea about WHY? Can it be some hardware issues?

Thanks seventy one

Regarding serialnumber I not think about that, just copyed the info :-)

The repair was done buy a official Apple workshop, regarding information form the store. So my answer will be yes.

Apple Care: No, I not buy any extra Apple Care, because in Denmark there is oblicatoric 2 years reclamation rights witch cover fault's like this, so the repair does not cost me anything (This is regulated in official law for a retailer)

Problem is that the issue described abow, happened AFTER I got the product back.

The repair claim it is a Apple software problem, witch I not understand as I have run the update to OS 10.8.4 before on the same computer, since 24.08.2012 (a year before), reformated, installed 10.6.6 and updated several times, now...after repair I can't update.

That is why my question, if it can be caused buy a "none compatible hardware".

Apple refused take part in the reclamation so the service

counterfeit a service claim to Apple by specifying that there was a defect on another machine to get the parts free of charge from Apple. These things I have written on the service note from the workshop

Well, the hosts have now sorted the serial number by edit. Good for them.

If I understand you correctly your machine currently has Snow Leopard 10.6.6 installed. You may not be able to upgrade from there. You need 10.6.8 via the following free download.

Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 ... then follow up with software updates to pick up the most recent security and iTunes updates.

This will also give you App Store, from where you can go to 10.8 Mountain lion and further. Indeed, you may be able to go direct to Mavericks ... but one thing at a time. Review your memory (RAM) level. You really need 4GB, preferably 6GB for these higher OS versions.

I know.....you may not understand me correct :-)

The problem is that I NOT CAN do the upgrade. I could before and know the procedure, but after I got new Harddisk, logicboard, vidoboard and RAM I can not upgrade anymore.

The workshop have agreed that it is impossible to upgrade, but refuse it is a harddware problem, they claim it is a software problem. I not agree it is a software problem as I am using exact same software as I used before without any problems.

Shop, witch is responible (due to law of reclamation in Denmark) refuse also resopnsbility and claim the computer ONLY should be able to run OS 10.6.6, not a upgrade.

I am now trying to find out if it can be as described abow a "not compatible hardware" that cause the upgrade problems.

As the workshop "tricked Apple" to give some spareparts, I have a not good feeling that they may used a "thirdpart" hardware that the software upgrade refuse....can it be the reason?
