iTunes store not connecting in iTunes

Using iTunes on a MacBook Pro when I try to go to either iTunes Store or Apps (to download updates) iTunes is not connect to the Apple Store.

i am definietly connected to the internet. Is this a known Apple outage or has someone experienced this and found a solution?
