iOS 7.04 won't resume podcasts correctly from lockscreen

I have a new iPhone 5c and iOS 7. When I listen to a podcast and put the phone in my pocket the phone locks and shows the podcast info as it should. When I click the mic to stop playback and then click it again to resume at a later time, it will begin playing a random song from my iTunes library. It even still has the podcast info on the screen yet it chooses to play a shuffled track from iTunes. I can wake the phone up, go to the home screen or podcast app and click the mic to resume and it will STILL choose iTunes over the podcast I was listening to. I've even tried playing a video, locking, unlocking and going INTO the video player and clicking the mic to resume and it STILL chooses to begin playing a random iTunes track.

How do I get the phone behave correctly?
