Of course, Ive done that for my computer, tried the preferences for safari and firefox as well. Nothing allows the pop to choose "run" or "deny". I have googled forums, looked to java for support. I cant seem to figure the problem. Some say its my mac operating system and java. Anyone have this problem and find a solution? I did uninstall and downgrade to java 6 which works. But, most applications I using for uploading photos for my businesses require the latest Java 7. Does anyone have any suggestions, advice, or ideas where I can I ask for answers.

Thank you

Then, check System Preferences->Java and its various tabs. I've both installed.

For Java 7,

/Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java -version shows:

java version "1.7.0_51"

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_51-b13)

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.51-b03, mixed mode)

for Java 6, java -version shows:

java version "1.6.0_65"

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_65-b14-462-10M4609)

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.65-b04-462, mixed mode)

Thanks so much for trying to help. It seems after looking through the java tabs and its settings, everything is enabled. i did attempt to add the website i am currently having problems uploading to in the "edit site list" there was a red ! mark and i wasnt allowed to add any sites. It seems that everything is correct? This is the error message i am recieving "Application blocked by security settings. Your security settings have blocked a self-signed application from running." It seems pretty straight forward, but as I see it nothing in the settings is blocking. Any more suggestions?? Im lost here.

I was stumped too, but I believe I have found the fix for this.

You do go to System Preferences, but not to Security, instead find the "Java" item (listed at the bottom under the "Other" heading). That opens the Java control panel. In there you choose the "Security" tab and near the bottom is a heading titled "Exception Site List" with a button to "Edit Site List...". Click that and add the website that hosts the self-signed app. Wildcards are not allowed, but entering something of the form "https://sub.domain.com" worked like a charm for me. You will still get a warning dialog, but you can then check a box to "accept the risk" and press a "Run" button.

More here on the syntax: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/technotes/guides/jweb/security/exception_si te_list.html
