Q: I cannot update iMovie

I can update my iphoto, but I cannot update my iMovie. It tried to download for a while, then it just quits and says that an error has occurred. then it says iMovie failed to download. Use the Purchases page to try again. so I signed in to the purchases page and get the same exact notice that it failed and I should use the Purchases page.

All of my other updates like iTunes, pages, iphoto, etc. all work fine. I have tried at least ten times over the past week or more. I have iMovie 10.0.0 and am trying to get 10.0.2. Do I have to go back and try to find 10.0.1 first. I generally keep all of my apps updated and do not know why iMovie did not update to 10.0.1 along with all of my other updates.

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

    Back up all data.

Quit the App Store if it's running. Force quit if necessary.

Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

defaults write -app "App Store" ShowDebugMenu YES

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.

Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.

Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal.

Launch the App Store. There should now be a menu labeled Debug in the menu bar at the top of the screen. From that menu, select

    Reset Application

    Quit again and relaunch. Test.

Optionally, remove the Debug menu by quitting the App Store and entering the command below in the same way as before:
defaults delete -app "App Store" ShowDebugMenu

    I experienced the same issue.

Resetting App Store didn't fix the issue, but now I get a new error message: An error occurred during purchase. Then please try again later, then all buttons are grayed out and iMovie is listed as Waiting...

I've had problems with iMovie and iPhoto before in the App Store. Fortunately, I don't use them, but Final Cut and Aperture instead.
