Jan 27, 2014 6:02 PM in response to Scottm382by Linc Davis,First check that the HDMI cable, and the adapter if you're using one, are securely inserted at both ends.
From the menu bar, select
▹ System Preferences... ▹ Displays ▹ Display
In the window that opens on the external display, set the Resolution to Scaled, and select the HDTV resolution that matches the display (usually either 720p or 1080i.) If necessary, adjust the Underscan slider so that the picture fills the screen. (Credit for this solution to ASC member Donlybakare.)
You may also need to select a different profile or calibrate the display in the Color tab to get the best possible color balance.
If these steps don't resolve the problem, you may have a damaged or defective cable.

Jan 28, 2014 5:37 AM in response to Linc Davisby Scottm382,I tried all the settings no luck. The apple adapter seems to be ok. So I tried a better hdmi cable and that worked. I'm not sure why the apple adapter does t work. But the problem is resolved. Thx for your help
