I have tried for months to delete old issues from newsstand.

I can no longer find any way to delete old issues of the New Yorker from the newsstand app on my iPad with ios 7.0.4. Where can I get help? Also, since I am new to this forum, how will I ever find this post again, and how will I ever know if anyone has responded?

Hopefully this will help,.,,...

I don't understand what you mean by "hold the magazine" but it does no good to keep my finger on the icon for the particular issue I want to remove. If I tap the icon, the magazine opens. If I merely touch it, nothing happens. If I go to the opening screen for newsstand that shows only the latest copy of The New Yorker and press that icon for a couple seconds it makes the icon wiggle and an x appears, but I do not want to remove all copies. I only want to remove ten or twelve old ones. I need additional help.

When I hold my finger on the New Yorker icon in newsstand it begins to wiggle and an x is available, but when I click on the x I am told that if I proceed all data for the New Yorker will be deleted. I do not want to then have to re-download 20 or so issues so I am not willing to follow your advice. It would take a couple hours to reload those issues.

Thanks for your help, but I need for somebody who is fully knowledgeable about removing unwanted issues of the respond to this post. I don't want somebody to just guess about it.

This problem has arisen only since the latest version of newsstand was issued. An earlier version provided a capability to remove individual issues, but the feature is now hidden if it even exists. And I cannotr even find any way to determine the version number for the app that I have installed. IMHO this is pretty crummy programming.

I finally found the answer, using the "blind squirrel hunting acorns" approach. After you click on the New Yorker in NewsStand, icons for about 9 of the latest issues appear and there is a small gear in the upper right corner of the screen. Tap it and then tap "Remove Issues From iPad". Then you can touch several individual issue icons to mark them each with a red checkmark. Then tap "Remove" in the upper right corner of the screen, and the app will proceed to remove all of the marked issues one at a time, displaying the message "Updating Library" for several seconds as each issue is removed. At this point, all issues that have been removed will show a cloud under their icons.

So maybe the app isn't quite as terrible as the current reviews indicate. I think the main problem is that the app developer has basically been too lazy to prepare a suitable FAQ sheet to help users learn how to work the app.

You've probably resolved this by now, but in case you haven't....

I had the same problem, so contacted the New Yorker tech support. This is what they said to do (and it works):

Swipe left to right across the issue while in the Library. Your "view" button will change to "remove". Tap remove. You will then get a message to verify that you do want to remove. Tap remove. Your button will change to download. You can download for free again at any time.

Hmmm. I also can't delete issues. To start with, in Library there is no Read/view icon (or any other icon) - just the image of each copy's cover. And swiping left to right does nothing at all. Touching and holding does nothing at all. Same when I look at an individual cover in read mode. I am running version 7.1.2 of OS X on my iPad Mini.

I tried Customer Care on the My Account section to ask how to delete, but it turns out to be a dead link (the New Yorker apologizes for this when you click the link; how about just fixing it instead?).

I have tried for months to delete old issues from newsstand.
