IMessage has stopped working on my IPOD touch 4th Gen.
It says I have 34 messages, I click it and the screen goes blank for about 15 secs then bounces back to the previous screen
iPod touch, iOS 6.1.5

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Go to Settings>Messages>Send and Receive and sign out and sign back in.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Still not working. It is acting like it cannot communicate with the server. WIFI is working and facetime is working just not imessages.
Is the Messages app still opening by then quickly closing after restoring to factory settings/new iPod?
Yes it is. If you do the screen slide from the top down you can even see the conversations but if you click on one to try to respond (group message amoung my daughters friends) it does the same thing.
If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..

To me it seems strange that only Messages would not work.
