How do I restore accidentally deleted photos on iPad mini?

I had attempted to delete photos from the iStream so they would not be in the cloud. I then marked photos from the Camera Roll and moved them to a new album. I checked that all of my selected photos were in the new album - they were. I went back to the Camera Roll and deleted the photos I had just added to the new album - GONE! I tried some on line suggestions, but not successful. Are they gone forever if deleted from the Camera Roll? Are the somewhere in some hard to find place? I'm used to a Recycling Bin...does iOS have that somewhere? Some options I tried involved a fee (even from Apple Support for some reason...maybe I ask too many questions?!). Who do I trust and what else can I try? I'm also wondering if I should not have plugged it in or powered on in a particular sequence? I just had a one of the best weeks in my life in a long time and almost all of the photos are gone. It really *****! HELP! Please!

iOS does not have a recycle bin for deleted photos. When you delete a picture from camera roll, it will delete from any folder you put it in as the folder is just a pointer from camera roll to the photo.

If the pictures are on your computer, you can sync them back. If you backed up your iPad before you deleted them, you can restore your iPad from that backup. If they are not on your computer and/or you didn't back them up, I'm afraid you are very unlikely to get them back.

As pointed out earlier, the albums just point to the actual pictures which only exist on the camera roll. Delete the albums and the pics remain on the phone, delete the camera roll and the pics are gone. If you have been doing icloud backups, then your pics may be in those backups. Moving forward, I also recommend the google plus app which has a terrific autobackup feature for videos and photos on your camera roll.

I have been experiencing problems with My Photo Stream as well. What I ultimately did was create a NEW photo stream by doing the following:

1. Select a picture from iPad and click the "Share" button.

2. Select Photo Stream.

3. Select New Photo Stream.

4. Give your New Photo Stream a name (I called mine "Missing Photos").

5. Tap "Next".

6. Add any comments (optional) and then tap "Post".

After Step 6... PRESTO! I could see this new stream on both my iPhone 5 and iPad. Only problem is now I have the luxury to skim through my photos and see which photos are on iPad but not iPhone and vice versa.

However, days later, I happened to know a software named iPad Data Recovery, which is enable to recover deleted photos from iPadfor us. It really works. If you find the above steps a little confused, you can have a try of it.

I know this is a year later, but yes there is a way this can be done. If you've ever purchased a Sandisk SD card or CF card, they usually come with a really neat Rescue program that you can run to recover deleted files/images/videos/etc from any flash device (aka iPad storage). If you connect your iPad to the computer, and then you run the Sandisk Rescue application, it will find your iPad and it WILL find all deleted files that you are looking to find and put them in a folder view. You then simply click on the ones that you want to recover, point to a folder on your computer for the restoration process, and lo-and-behold your images/videos/files/etc are there to do with what you wish. Yes, I absolutely used this exact method to recover images that accidentally deleted, and it worked perfect. If you want them back on your iPad, send them to your Apple E-mail Account and open Mail on your iPad and then just save the images to your Photos/Camera Roll.

Again, sorry that this is a year later, but I didn't see this question until today, otherwise I would have pointed this out a year ago. So, all of you out there who have been considering buying the App to recover images in the iTunes Store, it's okay if you wish to do so, but you still have to use the App on the computer, so why not just use the one that comes with Sandisk cards for free? Hope this helps? Cheers All!

Hi,

For any one else struggling with this and you have iOS9, try your recently deleted album in your Photos app. If not, try restoring from an iTunes or iCloud backup. However this will only work if you had created a backup before the photos were deleted.

If you haven't created a backup, you can recover deleted photos straight from your iPhone with a program we developed here in my office.
