Apple wireless keyboard keeps asking to pair every 5 seconds. Super annoying. Need bluetooth on because of track pad. How do I stop the keyboard from trying to pair?

Late 2012 Mac mini running OS 10.9

The keyboard I use is a plugged in using USB.

The wireless apple keyboard is actually paired to another computer in the other room.

But if that computer is off, the same **** wireless keyboard constantly interrupts my Mac Mini

asking to finalize pairing.

I just want this to stop. It is annoying beyond belief.
