Q: G5 PPC cannot connect to the internet using OS 10.3.4

Airport says I'm connected to my wireless network but launching Safari says it cannot connect to the server - same message when trying to use FireFox. I noticed on other posts in this forum that there might be an IP address problem. I see that my network setting says "Airport has a self-assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the Internet". I've found a few suggestions in this forum but the steps being suggested do not align with my system (i.e. one user said to click on the "advanced" button in my wireless network settings but there isn't such a button to select). As you can see I'm lost.

Update on my research: A neighbor came over with a newer MacBook Pro and in their Network Settings I was able to see the IP Address assigned to the wireless router I'm using. My neighbors computer is not having a problem accessing the internet using my router, I assume because they are running a much newer OS and have never had problems connecting. In my Network Preferences I manuallly assigned the same IP Address to the Airport and now it says "You are now connected to the Internet via AirPort", so it no longer appears to be locked by a self-addressed IP Address like it used to say. The sad part here is that I still cannot connect to the internet, so manually changing the IP Addresses to match did not help. Help!

UPDATE: Upgrading my OS from 10.3.9 to 10.4 Leopard instantly solved my internet issues. So I suggest you either reinstall you OS or upgrade to the highest version that you can and hopefully you'll resolve your issue.
