Who is asking you for an access code? The phone does not require this, it could only be the carrier? Does the carrier support conference calls? Not all do.

EDIT: If you are connecting to a conference call, and not the one initiating it, it is possible they require a number to log into the call. Check with whomever is creating this call.

I initiated the 3 way call. My carrier is VW. Never heard of this before.

Have you ever done a 3 way call with Verizon before? I do not believe they support 3 way calling.
